We don’t actually know what our time will look like, but here’s an imaginary schedule for a typical week.
worship / workout
A time each morning for the pastors to share in cardio workout, martial arts, or yoga, and body prayers, scripture reading, worship music, or meditation.
staff meeting
Plotting together on Mondays about the week ahead.
personal reflection
A chance for a pastor to reflect weekly on her/his relationships in 1:1 time with our pastoral therapist.
group reflection
A weekly chance for our pastors to reflect on their relationships with one another with our pastoral therapist.
spiritual direction
An alternating group / individual time each week for pastors to reflect on their spiritual life with our spiritual director.
planning
A time for the pastors to prepare for their weekly service.
field trip
A time on Fridays for the pastors to visit homeless shelters, mosques, or parks.
group reading / lunch together
The pastors could take turns preparing lunch for one another. During lunch, a rotating pastor would bring a chapter, an article, or a video clip to read or watch, and reflect on. This would be a space to grow as a community while engaging Scripture, culture, and theology.
afternoon specialization
This would be a huge block of time for each pastor to pursue a gift or calling that is specific to them. This time would be shaped thoughtfully and intentionally, and could be used for painting, writing, administration, music, theological studies, community service, or counseling. This time could also be used for parenting or working a second career, as it felt appropriate to the church.
